I was curious and did a search for iPad giveaways. WOW! What a popular item to give away. I am going to have to enter some of these things myself. I say to these companies though, why don’t you laser engrave the iPads you’re about to send off into the world? It’d be a unique touch and a reminder to everyone of where that free iPad came from.

Not a contest, but a DC Wedding Photographer is giving away iPads to new customers who book a wedding package. Ends July 7th.
After all this compiling, I’ve gotten a good idea of how to design a great contest and how not to. I liked this one from Box.Net a lot. But some of them resulted in lots of followers and very little useful feedback or interaction. Social media isn’t about quantity, it’s about quality interactions with your customers. It’s not about having 3000 people comment on a post just to win a great gadget. How many of them even know what you do or who you are?
